The experience

I thought I knew what to expect from Malta, but the first thing that threw me was Mosta Church. Our driver (Mario, who insisted he wasn’t a guide but honestly knew more than most) pointed out the dent in the dome where a WWII bomb landed but didn’t explode. You could see all of Grand Harbour glowing gold under streetlights. It felt strange leaving after seeing so much in one day: like I’d only scratched at Malta’s surface but somehow carried bits of it away with me anyway.
