The experience

The mangrove tour is included: a 2-hour boat ride through Kilim Geoforest Park, where you drift past limestone cliffs, caves and the local fishing village that sits at the heart of the geopark. Black Sand Beach, a mix of black and white sand four kilometres southwest of Tanjung Rhu, offers a quieter retreat than the island's busier stretches. Oriental Village is a themed open-air complex built around a central lake, with galleries, animal exhibits, shops and restaurants spread across the grounds. If you want to ride the cable car up to the Sky Bridge (the world's longest free-span curved bridge, swinging out over virgin jungle), your guide can arrange that, though the ticket costs extra and you'll explore it without them.

Transport is air-conditioned, fuel and parking are covered, and you get bottled water throughout the day. The guide speaks English or Chinese. Since the route is yours to shape, you're not locked into a fixed itinerary. If you discover a site halfway through and want to pivot, you can.
