The experience

The tour starts at 9:30am with pickup from your hotel or cruise terminal. You begin at Oriental Village, a themed lifestyle complex with Chinese and Japanese architecture, where you can browse souvenir shops and batik beachwear before heading to the main attractions. The SkyCab cable car then takes you up Machincang mountain (the oldest geological formation in Southeast Asia) with views across the jungle canopy and surrounding archipelago. At the summit, the SkyDome wraps you in 360-degree 3D projections on a curved screen, then the SkyGlide glass-cabin ride descends the mountainside so you can see the landscape unfold on all sides.

The SkyBridge, a 125-meter curved suspension bridge, is the centerpiece: it ranks among the world's longest single-point suspension structures and was assembled on the mountain by helicopter. You walk across it at your own pace, taking in views of the jungle and distant coastline. After descending, the tour moves to Atma Alam Batik Art Village, where you watch artisans apply wax and dye in the traditional batik printing process and can buy hand-pulled silk and local textiles. The village operates 9am to 8pm daily except Tuesdays, so the tour skips this stop if you book on that day.

The afternoon includes free time at Cenang Street, a beachside strip with cafes, restaurants and duty-free shops, then a stop at Eagle Square to photograph the 12-meter-tall eagle statue that has become Langkawi's symbol. If you want to shop for duty-free alcohol, cigarettes or chocolate, Kuah Town (open 10am to 10pm daily) is the final stop before your driver returns you to your hotel or cruise terminal. The entire route is covered in an air-conditioned vehicle with an English-speaking driver.

What is the SkyBridge and what will I do there?

The SkyBridge is a 125-meter curved suspension bridge at the top of Machincang mountain, one of the world's longest single-point suspension structures. You walk across it at your own pace to take in views of the jungle and coastline. The walk itself takes as long as you want to spend there.

Do I need to be fit to do this tour, or will there be a lot of walking?

The tour suits all physical fitness levels. The SkyGlide cabin ride takes you most of the way up the mountain, so you avoid a long jungle hike. You do walk across the SkyBridge and through the Atma Alam Batik Art Village, but the pace is your own and there are rest stops throughout the day.

What happens if I'm arriving on a cruise ship instead of staying at a hotel?

Cruise passengers are picked up at the Guard House at Resort World Langkawi. When you arrive, proceed to the Guard House and look for a driver holding a paging board with your name. If you can't find them, contact the hotline provided in your booking confirmation.

Is food included in this tour?

Food and beverages are not included, but you have free time at Cenang Street, where you can eat at cafes and restaurants along the beach, and at Kuah Town if you choose to stop there.

What if I want to visit on a Tuesday?

Atma Alam Batik Art Village closes every Tuesday, so the batik printing demonstration and shopping stop will be skipped on that day. The rest of the tour (SkyCab, SkyBridge, SkyGlide, Eagle Square and Cenang Street) operates normally.
