The experience

The cable car ride itself is the centerpiece. You board at the Base Station at the foothill of Mount Mat Cincang and ascend via the cable car system: the operator describes it as an exhilarating experience, and the ride gives you a chance to spot the flora and fauna of the mountain as you go up. The cable car ticket includes access to SkyCab, SkyDome, SkyRex, and the 3D Art Museum (hailed as the largest 3D art museum in Malaysia), so you get multiple vantage points and attractions bundled into the single ride.

Oriental Village is where you spend the second part of the tour. It's laid out as a themed lifestyle complex with a large central lake and architecture in Chinese and Japanese style: the operator calls it quaint yet modern. The village functions as a shopping zone, so you can browse and pick up souvenirs if you want. Other attractions at Oriental Village are available to explore on your own time. The setting is the draw here: the lake and mountain backdrop frame the whole experience, and the themed architecture gives it a distinct character from the standard shopping mall.

Hotel pickup is included from your choice of two zones (Pantai Cenang & Pantai Tengah, or Datai/Tanjung Rhu/Kuah Town), and your driver speaks English. You pick your departure time when you book, and the tour is subject to favorable weather. If poor weather forces a cancellation, you can reschedule or get a full refund. Note that on Wednesdays the cable car operates only from noon to 6pm, and weekend and public holiday waits can be longer due to crowds.
