The experience
The tour starts with hotel pickup and a drive into Nairobi National Park, where the wildlife grazes within sight of the city's downtown skyline. You'll move through the open plains looking for rhinos, buffalo, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, and lions, along with antelopes and gazelles. The park holds over 300 bird species (Secretary birds, crowned cranes, vultures and woodpeckers among them), so bring binoculars if you have them.
From the park you head to the Giraffe Center, a nature sanctuary built around a breeding program for Rothschild giraffes. You feed them directly from a raised observation platform, a close encounter most visitors don't get elsewhere. Warthogs roam freely through the grounds alongside the giraffes, adding an unpredictable element to the visit.
The final stop is the Karen Blixen Museum, housed in the estate where the Danish author lived while in Kenya: the setting for Out of Africa. The grounds sit against the backdrop of the Ngong Hills, and a nature trail runs through the property. The remaining hours of the nine are spent in transit between these three locations.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (3 to 9 years); Infant (under 3): free.
What animals will I actually see at Nairobi National Park?
Nairobi National Park holds lions, rhinos, buffalo, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, gazelles and over 300 bird species including Secretary birds, crowned cranes, vultures and woodpeckers. The big game roams the open plains, so sightings depend on the day and where the animals are grazing.
Can I really feed the giraffes, or just watch them?
At the Giraffe Center you feed the Rothschild giraffes directly from a raised observation platform. It's a hands-on experience, not viewing from a distance. The platform puts you at the right height for the giraffes to eat from your hand.
What is the Karen Blixen Museum actually like?
The Karen Blixen Museum is set in the estate where the author lived in Kenya, the real house behind Out of Africa. You explore the grounds against the Ngong Hills backdrop and walk a nature trail through the property to learn about her life and time in Kenya.
Does the nine hours include driving time?
Yes, the operator notes that the remaining hours beyond the three main stops are spent in transportation between Nairobi National Park, the Giraffe Center, and the Karen Blixen Museum.
Is lunch included in this tour?
Lunch is not part of this tour. You'll want to plan a meal or bring snacks, especially since the day spans nine hours across three locations.
