The experience

Hotel pickup at 8am on day one takes you south through the Great Rift Valley with a stop at the viewpoint, then on to Masai Mara for an evening game drive. The park's tree-studded grassland and rolling hills hold the Big Five (lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants and buffalo) along with herds of plains game and virtually every other species found in Kenya. You stay two nights at either Mara Rhino Camp or Mara Lenchada Camp, where tents have hot showers and toilets inside.

Day two is a full day in the park. After early breakfast you explore the northern edge of the Serengeti with a picnic lunch, spending time at the Mara River where the concentration of animals is heaviest during migration season. Day three takes you to Lake Nakuru, stopping for an optional visit to a Masai village on the way if you choose. The lake is known for its massive flocks of flamingos and is a sanctuary for black and white rhinos, plus leopards, giraffes, Columbus monkeys and over 350 bird species. You stay at either Golden Palace Hotel or Lanet Martfarm Resort. On the final morning you spend time in Nakuru park before a picnic lunch and the drive back to Nairobi, arriving around 3pm.
