Ride forest backroads and lava caves on e-bikes, at the pace that suits you
A private full-day e-bike tour of Mt. Fuji's Shizuoka side that trades crowded northern routes for quiet countryside, lava cave exploration, forest walks and natural springs. The route adjusts based on your pace and interests, with a local English-speaking guide, e-bike and helmet included. Pickup and drop-off happen within Fujinomiya or Fuji City. Weather may alter the route or require vehicle-based travel instead.
The Experience
If you're arriving in the Mt. Fuji area and want to move beyond the standard photo stops, this tour takes you into the landscape most visitors never reach. You ride e-bikes on rural roads and forest backroads, stopping to walk through lava caves formed by ancient volcanic activity, visit natural springs and waterfalls fed by groundwater, and move at a rhythm that lets you actually notice the environment instead of rushing between checkpoints. The e-bikes handle the terrain and take the strain out of climbing, so the focus stays on what you're seeing and the pace you set with your guide.
This is a private tour, which means the route is not locked to a fixed itinerary. Your guide chooses roads and stops based on weather, how you're feeling, and what interests you most on the day: lava formations, water features, forest sections, or the rhythm of local life in the quieter valleys. If weather turns severe, the tour may switch to vehicle-based travel or be rescheduled. There's no cancellation fee if that happens. With advance coordination, you can add a Japanese tea activity like leaf picking or a visit to a local craft brewery, though these require planning ahead and may not work for same-day bookings.
The full day runs about 6.5 hours. Pickup and drop-off are included within Fujinomiya City or Fuji City, and your guide takes photos throughout the ride that you keep afterward. You'll need to be able to ride a bicycle independently and have at least moderate fitness. The minimum height is 145 cm (4 ft 9 in), and if you weigh over 100 kg (220 lbs) or are taller than 195 cm (6 ft 5 in), contact the operator before booking to confirm bike fit.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English and Japanese.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24h before the start.
Can I choose what we stop to see, or does the tour follow a set route?
The tour follows a safe core route, but your guide adjusts stops and roads based on weather, your pace and interests on the day. Rather than a fixed checklist, the experience is built around what appeals to you, whether that's more time in the lava caves, longer forest walks, or the waterfalls and spring areas.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my tour?
In severe weather, the tour may switch to vehicle-based travel instead of e-bikes, or be canceled entirely. If canceled due to weather, you pay no cancellation fee and can reschedule for another date.
Is the tea picking or brewery visit included, or do I pay extra?
Japanese tea activities and brewery visits are optional and require advance coordination with the operator. They're not included in the standard tour and may not be available for last-minute bookings. You arrange these when you book if you're interested.
What's included in the price, and what do I need to bring?
The e-bike, helmet, English-speaking guide, tour photos and pickup and drop-off within Fujinomiya or Fuji City are all included. You should bring water and snacks. Food is not included, though depending on how the day unfolds, the guide can coordinate a stop at a local restaurant or bento option if you arrange it in advance.
How fit do I need to be for a full day on an e-bike?
You should have at least moderate physical fitness and be able to ride a bicycle independently. The e-bikes handle climbing and terrain, so the fitness requirement is more about comfort over 6.5 hours than strength. The guide adjusts pace to your level.
