The experience

Chukka Ocean Outpost sits on ocean frontage with rolling hills behind it, and the snorkeling happens on a catamaran ride out to one of Jamaica's clearest reefs. Once there, you pilot your own Sea Doo Scooter, a powered underwater vehicle, to move through the reef and watch the marine life up close instead of swimming or floating on the surface. The scooter does the work, so you stay down longer and cover more ground than a traditional snorkel would allow.

Between water activities, the ranch side of the outpost opens up: you ride horses across the property and into the sea itself, then move to the ocean zipline that launches you out over the water before dropping you into it. Gilly's Ocean-Side Restaurant & Bar sits on the property, serving Jamaican dishes like jerk chicken and pork, with a view of the water and a cold Red Stripe beer if you want one. The whole day runs four to six hours depending on how the activities stack.

An air-conditioned vehicle picks you up from your hotel in Falmouth, Montego Bay or Grand Palladium and brings you back at the end. The experience requires good weather. If conditions cancel the day, you get offered a different date or your money back. Infants can sit on an adult's lap, and specialized infant seats are available if you need one.
