The Martha Brae rafting happens first: a one-hour raft ride down a three-mile stretch of Jamaica's most-visited rafting river, where you can either learn the local legend or take an exhilarating swim. The raft itself is operated by the guide, so you sit and paddle or simply float, depending on what you want from the hour.

After rafting, you move to Braco Stables for horseback riding through the countryside and down into the Caribbean surf: a remote stretch of beach most day-trippers never reach. The route takes you through open terrain before the horses enter the water, and the ride is paced for riders with moderate fitness rather than experts. Between the stables and the lagoon, there's time to eat at Pepper's Jerk Center in Falmouth, though food and drinks are your own cost. The guide can point you to what's good.

The Luminous Lagoon happens after dark. You board a small boat and glide across water where harmless dinoflagellates, microscopic organisms, glow when the water is disturbed.
