The experience

The tour picks you up and drives through Negril with a guide who talks through the local history and culture as you travel. You arrive at Margaritaville, the resort that sits right on 7 Mile Beach, where you have time to use the beach chairs, swim and soak in the sun. The resort runs watersports on its own (paddleboards, jet skis and the like), and you can book those separately if you want them. From there the route takes you to Rick's Cafe, the clifftop bar that sits on the western edge of the island.

Rick's Cafe is the draw most people come for: it's a working bar and restaurant with a full menu, a dance floor, and a reputation that reaches far beyond Jamaica. The main event is the cliff jump: a 35-foot drop into the water below, which you can do or skip. The sunset from the cliffs is the other reason it lands on top-10 lists. The view runs straight out to the horizon as the sun drops into the sea. You'll have time to eat, drink, jump if you want to, and watch the light change. The guide stays with the group the whole time, and the van waits to bring everyone back.

The tour runs five hours total. You get rum punch or coconut water (when available) and bottled water during the drive. The vehicle is air-conditioned, and children from age one ride free. Gratuities are not included, and admission to Margaritaville resort itself is separate from the tour price. You pay that at the gate if you want to use the facilities beyond the beach access the tour provides.
