The experience
The day starts with hotel or cruise ship pickup in Ocho Rios. Your driver meets you and takes the wheel of an air-conditioned minibus, passing through town center, by Mystic Mountain and Dolphin Cove, then past Dunn's River falls and through Mammee Bay on the way down to St. Ann's Bay. The route itself is part of the experience. You see the landscape before you ride through it.
Once at St. Ann's Bay, you mount up for the horseback ride. The operator structures the tour for groups of 4 to 15 adults, so you're riding with a small party rather than alone. After the ride ends, the driver takes you back up to Ocho Rios, climbing 750 feet above sea level to a hilltop vantage point where you can photograph the entire town spread below you, including views of Mickjacker House. There's time to shop or buy lunch before heading back.
Room-temperature bottled water comes with the ride. The entry fee to the riding location is included. Children ages 4 to 11 pay half price, and infants under 3 ride free (on an adult's lap during the vehicle portion). Groups of 4 or more receive a $15 discount per booking.
