The experience

The tour starts at your hotel in Ocho Rios, Montego Bay or Trelawny, depending on which option you book. Your guide picks you up and drives you inland to Nine Mile, a small village in St Ann parish where Bob Marley was born. You'll visit his home and his final resting place, and your guide will walk you through the story of how reggae music emerged from this rural corner of Jamaica. The village itself is modest and the connection to the man is direct. This is where the legend began.

From Nine Mile, you head to Dunn's River Falls, which drops 600 feet in a series of natural limestone steps that cascade straight into the Caribbean Sea. Your guide leads the climb, and the hike is moderate in pace but involves scrambling over wet rock and moving upward through the water. You'll stop to swim in the rock pools between levels, slide down natural water chutes, or stand under the falling water for a massage effect. The falls are crowded (they're Jamaica's top attraction), but your guide knows the rhythm of the day and where to position the group.

Lunch is included and served at a stop along the route. If you've chosen the Mystic Lagoon add-on at checkout, you'll also have dinner at Joe James, a small restaurant on the coast in an old town off the main highway, served family style.
