The experience

The day starts at Appleton Estate, where you'll walk the grounds with a guide, watch a short film on rum production, sample fresh sugarcane and its byproducts, then tour the factory and barrel warehouse before tasting three different Appleton rums. From there you're driven to YS Falls & Park, where the river drops in tiers through jungle. You can climb the falls with guide assistance, use the rope swings, swim in the shallow pools, or rest in the shade under the trees. Zip lining is also available if you want it.

The final stop is a one-hour guided boat ride down the Black River, known as the best place in Jamaica to spot wild crocodiles. The guide points out different bird species, vegetation and wildlife, and explains the river's history, including its role during slavery and how it became the first Jamaican town to receive electricity. The boat moves slowly enough to watch the crocodiles and take in the landscape without rushing.

You travel in a private air-conditioned vehicle throughout the day, with pickup from your hotel in Falmouth, Grand Palladium, Negril or Montego Bay. All entrance fees, taxes and transportation are covered in the price, so there are no surprises at each stop.
