Wine and Food Tasting in Milo: Doc Etna wines with family recipes
Savor personalized tastings and homemade dishes in a private natural setting
A private wine and food tasting in Milo pairs Doc wines from the Etna slopes with homemade Sicilian dishes and family recipes, served on a panoramic terrace overlooking the Gulf of Catania. You taste local cold cuts, cheeses, bruschetta, pasta alla Norma from the organic garden, and a traditional biancomangiare with Modica chocolate, each course matched with volcanic Etna wines. The tasting is customizable for allergies, intolerances and culinary preferences, and takes place in a reserved outdoor area immersed in nature.
The experience
Milo sits on the slopes of Etna between mountains and chestnut woods, and the tasting happens on a terrace that dominates the Gulf of Catania. The wind rising from the sea keeps the air fresh while you work through a progression of local products and family recipes: a chopping board of cold cuts, cheeses, olives and homemade jams served with bread baked in a stone oven; bruschetta with ricotta and toasted hazelnuts, and another with basil pesto and tomato confit; peppers with crispbread, lemon zeste and mint. Each course pairs with Doc wines from the Etna area (volcanic, savory and intense) chosen to complement the food.
The main course is pasta alla Norma, a Sicilian specialty made with basil and eggplant from the property's organic garden. Dessert is biancomangiare, a traditional Sicilian recipe served with Modica chocolate, pistachio and strawberry sauce. You can customize the entire tasting around your culinary preferences and any allergies or intolerances. The experience lasts about two hours and is led by the family who lives and works on the property. Guides speak English and French.
