The Experience

La Limonaia sits in the heart of Sorrento, a working lemon grove where the famous oval lemon — the symbol of the Sorrento Peninsula and Massa Lubrense — grows under centuries-old methods. As you walk among the trees with your guide, you'll learn the traditional cultivation and production techniques that have kept this fruit thriving for generations, and hear the story of how it moved from ancient roots into modern kitchens across the world. The guide speaks English and walks you through the grove at a pace that lets you absorb both the scent and the history.

The tasting comes at the end of the 45-minute tour and anchors what you've just learned: homemade jams made from the lemon itself; Provolone del Monaco cheese from the region; lemon-infused olive oil; citrus honey; and a chilled glass of the grove's own limoncello. Each item carries the flavor of what you've just walked through, and the limoncello is the signature taste of Sorrento tradition.

If you want to extend the visit, the grove has a home restaurant on-site where you can order lunch or dinner. The menu leans into the lemon — mozzarella grilled in lemon leaf, spaghetti with lemon cream, lemon sorbet — and includes a glass of wine and water. Strollers and prams are welcome, and the grove is suitable for all fitness levels. Public transport stops nearby if you're coming from elsewhere in Sorrento.
