Taste four wines, three oils, and Pecorino Toscano in a vineyard overlooking the towers

A private wine, olive oil and cheese tasting at a family-run winery just minutes from San Gimignano's historic center. You'll taste 4 to 5 organic wines including Vernaccia di San Gimignano and Chianti Colli Senesi, sample estate extra virgin olive oils and aged balsamic vinegars, and pair them with locally sourced Pecorino Toscano cheeses and homemade bruschetta. A family member guides the tasting and explains the biodynamic farming methods behind each product. The winery sits on a hillside overlooking vineyards, olive groves, and the medieval towers of San Gimignano.

The experience

You arrive at the winery just minutes from San Gimignano's center and settle into a rustic tasting room with views across the vineyards and toward the town's stone towers. A member of the family who runs the estate walks you through their organic and biodynamic farming practices, then guides you through the tasting itself: 4 to 5 of their own wines, starting with Vernaccia di San Gimignano and moving into Chianti Colli Senesi, each one paired with a different element of the meal. The wines are the anchor, but the tasting builds outward.

Alongside the wines come the oils and vinegars (extra virgin olive oil and aged balsamic vinegar, both made on the estate) tasted on bread and bruschetta. The bruschetta is homemade with fresh toppings, and the cheeses are Pecorino Toscano sourced from local farms. Nothing here is imported or generic. Everything is either made on the property or sourced within Tuscany. Bottled water is included to cleanse your palate between tastings.

The whole experience runs about an hour, which is long enough to move through the wines and oils without rushing, but short enough to fit into an afternoon before or after exploring San Gimignano's medieval streets. The winery is wheelchair accessible, and the tasting is suitable for all fitness levels. A guide speaks English or Italian, and you must be at least 18 to participate.
