The experience
The experience starts in the cellar at Casa Emma, a working organic farm in the heart of Chianti Classico. A guide walks you through every stage of winemaking (how the grapes are selected, aged in barrel, and bottled), so you understand what goes into each bottle before you taste it. The farm prioritizes small groups, which means you have time to ask questions and move at your own pace instead of being rushed through with a crowd.
After the cellar tour, you move to the panoramic terrace for the tasting itself. This is where the "zero-meter" connection happens: you're standing on the exact land where the grapes grew, looking out at the vines while you taste five of their organic wines (Chianti Classico and Supertuscan) plus their extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Tuscan bread and local pecorino cheese come with the tasting, so you're eating and drinking what the farm actually produces, not a catering menu.
The whole visit runs about 75 minutes. Casa Emma is wheelchair accessible, and the terrace and all surfaces are accessible as well. Strollers and specialized infant seats are available if you're traveling with small children.
