The experience
The boat leaves from the water and traces Capri's entire coastline in three hours, stopping at sea caves where the light turns the water colours you don't see anywhere else. The Blue Grotto glows electric blue because sunlight bounces off the seabed through an underwater opening. The Green Grotto's water is so intensely emerald that swimmers want to jump in the moment they see it. The White Grotto has white stalactites hanging from the roof and white mineral crusts on the walls. Between the caves, you pass the Faraglioni (three rocky islets shaped by erosion into jagged towers), and the Natural Arch, a limestone span 18 metres above the water that is the collapsed remains of an ancient grotto.
You stop to swim at Marina Piccola and other sheltered spots along the route. Snorkelling gear, towels and a change of pace in the water are included. The guide points out what to look for below the surface. Soda, water and snacks come onboard so you don't need to plan a meal break. The tour works for families with small children (infants can sit on a lap) and for anyone who wants to see the island without arranging a boat yourself. The operator has run this route for over 30 years.
You choose between a boat for up to four passengers or one for up to eight when you book. Both are private, so you're not sharing the boat with strangers. The guide speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese or Italian depending on what you need.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What is the Blue Grotto actually like when you get there?
The Blue Grotto is a sea cave on Capri's north coast where sunlight enters through an underwater opening and reflects off the seabed, filling the cavern with an intense blue glow. The cave extends about 50 metres into the cliff and is deep enough that the light effect is visible even in daylight.
Can you actually swim during the tour, or is it just sightseeing?
You stop to swim at Marina Piccola and other sheltered spots along the route. Snorkelling equipment is provided, so you can look at the underwater life, and towels are onboard to dry off between stops.
What are the Faraglioni rocks?
The Faraglioni are three small rocky islets in the Bay of Naples off Capri's coast. Their distinctive jagged shapes are the result of erosion from wind, rain and sea waves over thousands of years, and they're one of the most recognizable landmarks on the island.
How does the private boat option work? Do I book the whole boat or just a seat?
You book the entire boat, which holds either four or eight passengers depending on which option you choose at checkout. Your group travels together, and the guide is yours alone for the three hours.
What's included in the price?
The tour includes private boat transportation, a live guide, snorkelling equipment, towels, bottled water, snacks and soda. All fees and taxes are built into the price. The only extra cost is if you want to order drinks or food onboard beyond what's provided.
