The experience

You start at Mount Pellegrino with your driver-guide and travel inland through the Madonie mountains to Castelbuono, a medieval village built into the park's green slopes. The Castle of Ventimiglia sits at its heart, holding a relic of St. Anne and other treasures. The guide takes you through the fortress and the narrow streets of the old town. At the famous artisan pastry Fiasconaro, you taste typical Sicilian sweets (panettoni, torroni, cannoli) made on-site. This is not a crowded group tour. You are the only booking on the route.

After lunch, the drive continues to Cefalù, a seaside town where the Arab-Norman cathedral dominates the waterfront as a UNESCO site. You walk the old town's tight streets, see the small port and the Medieval Lavatoio, and have free time to shop in the characteristic shops that fill the center. The beach of fine sand and clear water is there if you want it. Around 5pm, the drive back to Palermo takes about an hour.

Transport is by licensed air-conditioned minivan or car depending on your group size. The driver speaks English or Italian. Hotel or cruise ship pickup is included, and if you are arriving by ship, you provide the docking and re-boarding times at booking so the return is timed to your departure.
