The Experience

The first thing that hit me when we stepped out in Agrigento was this mix of dry earth and wildflowers—like oregano and dust, if that makes sense. Our driver, Paolo, had already cracked a joke about Sicilian coffee being “stronger than Roman walls,” so I felt at ease right away. He pointed out olive groves rolling along the road as we neared the Valley of the Temples.
