Weather permitting, the route often passes through Valle del Bove, a natural amphitheater carved by the collapse of past volcanic structures, where the panorama is surreal. On the full-day option, you enter a volcanic cave and then descend to MontataGrande for a tasting of Etna wines, Sicilian liqueurs, oils, honey from Zafferana, pistachio from Bronte, and other regional specialties. Pickup from Catania is included in one option. If you choose to meet at MontataGrande instead, the trailhead is accessible by car. Trekking shoes, jackets, poles and a baby backpack carrier are available to rent if you need them.
