The experience
If you've got an afternoon free and want to skip the usual grape-wine routine, this is the place to land. You'll walk through the actual production space where the berries are fermented, aged and bottled, and if you time it right during winemaking season, you'll see the process happening. Brett and Shane walk you through how they select the fruit, how fermentation works, what happens during ageing: the real mechanics of turning Irish berries into something a Michelin-starred chef would serve. It's not a lecture. It's two people who built this from nothing explaining what they do.
The tasting itself is the payoff. You'll taste the Strawberry, Blackberry and Raspberry wines, each one paired with Irish cheeses and artisan chocolate chosen to show what each wine does best. They'll teach you how to serve each one, which foods bring out what flavors, and why one tastes different from the next. Small groups mean you're not standing in a crowd. You're in a room with maybe a handful of other people and the people who actually made the wine.
Is this one for you?The winery sits where public transport reaches it, so you don't need a car to get there. If you're staying in Wicklow without your own wheels or just landed for an afternoon, you can book this and handle the whole thing without arranging a ride.
Top questions
What's the difference between these berry wines and regular wine?
Every bottle is made from 100% Irish strawberries, blackberries or raspberries instead of grapes. The winery is Ireland's only one working with berries, and the wines have won awards and landed on Michelin-starred restaurant menus.
Will I see the winemaking happen, or is it just a tour of an empty space?
If you visit during winemaking season, you may catch the actual process in action, fermentation, ageing, bottling. Even outside that window, you'll walk through the production space and learn exactly how each stage works.
Who runs this, and will they actually be there?
Brett and Shane, the father-and-son team who founded the winery, host the experience themselves. You'll hear directly from them how they started Ireland's first berry winery and why they chose berries instead of grapes.
What do the wine pairings include?
Each of the three wines is paired with Irish cheeses and artisan chocolate selected to complement the flavors. The hosts explain which foods work best with each wine and why.
How long does the whole thing take?
The experience runs about 75 minutes from start to finish, including the tour of the production space, the guided tasting and all the pairings.
