The experience
Eleven to twelve hours lets you move through Ubud's hillside temples and down to the coast without rushing. The driver picks you up from your Seminyak hotel and handles the full route: no other passengers share the vehicle or the guide's attention. You start at Tegenungan Waterfall, a 20-meter drop on the Petanu River where the sound carries across the rocks, then move into the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, where over 400 long-tailed macaques occupy different zones across 27 acres. The Ubud Royal Palace comes next, its stone carvings and layout a record of the king who governed the village centuries ago.
After lunch at a set-menu restaurant, the route turns toward the coast. Padang Padang Beach sits on a white sand stretch facing the Indian Ocean, with a rocky outcrop that frames the water: a working surf break if you want to watch or join in. Uluwatu Temple perches 70 meters above the cliff edge. You arrive as the light drops and stay for the Kecak Fire Dance, a performance built from layered vocal rhythms and fire that originated in the village of Bona. The day ends with grilled seafood at Jimbaran Beach, where the restaurants line the sand and the sunset crosses the water.
The all-inclusive option covers lunch and dinner. If you book the tour without meals, you choose where and what to eat. Vegetarian and non-seafood alternatives are available with advance notice. The vehicle is air-conditioned, and the driver speaks English. Entrance tickets, the Kecak Dance ticket, fuel and parking are all included.
Is this one for you?Book the all-inclusive option if you want meals decided and restaurants chosen for you. Choose the tour without meals if you prefer to eat where and when you prefer during the day. Either way, traveling in a private vehicle means the schedule bends to your pace. You linger at the Monkey Forest or the temple as long as you want, and the guide responds to what interests you most.
