The experience

The boat leaves Tloknare harbour at 9am after hotel pickup from Senggigi or Mataram. You get a safety briefing and gear fitting before heading out to the three islands. The snorkeling itself is what you control (where you swim, how long you stay at each reef, what you look for in the water) with your guide in the boat and ready to point out the turtles and the statues of Gili Meno, an underwater sculpture garden that sits on the seafloor between the islands.

Gili Trawangan is the largest and most visited of the three, with white sand and vibrant reef life. Gili Meno is quieter and home to the underwater statues and thriving turtle populations. Gili Air rounds out the day with colorful coral gardens and a laid-back island atmosphere. The private boat means you set the pace at each stop: no rushing between groups, no fixed time limits on the water. Bottled water is included. You bring or buy lunch on one of the islands.

The day ends with a stop at Malimbu Hill on the return to Lombok, a coastal viewpoint with views across the turquoise sea back toward the islands and, on clear days, toward Mount Agung in Bali. Hotel drop-off is included in the same areas where you were picked up.
