The experience

The day starts at 06:30am with pickup from your hotel and a drive to the harbour, then a one-hour fastboat crossing to Nusa Penida. Your guide meets you on arrival and takes you first to Broken Beach, where a tall cliff in the middle of the sea has a curved hole through its centre, forming a natural arch. A short walk from there brings you to Angel Billabong, a clifftop pool of crystal water that sits directly above the ocean. You can swim in it like an infinity pool, with the sea visible beyond the cliff edge.

From Angel Billabong the tour continues to Kelingking Beach, where a massive green cliff juts into the sea in a shape most visitors see as a dinosaur's head and neck opening its mouth. The main viewpoint sits on a hill so you can see the full formation. You'll have time to walk the white sand beach or, if you're interested, learn about the dive sites nearby: Secret Point and Manta Point are known for manta ray sightings in the right season. Lunch is served at a local restaurant partway through the day.

The final stop is Crystal Bay, a snorkeling site with large coral formations, healthy patches of staghorn and table coral, and sightings of frogfish, leaf scorpionfish, sand garden eels and cuttlefish. The bay has a sandy beach and is used as a training site for divers. The tour ends with the fastboat return to the harbour and transfer back to your hotel.
