The experience

You get picked up at your Malang hotel at 6:30am and drive two and a half hours to the coast. The day splits into four stops: Sendiki Beach first, then Sendang Biru where the island hopping happens. You'll see the fish market in action and watch Indonesian fishermen at work before boarding the boat to explore nearby islands. After that comes Batu Bengkuk, where you can hike to the top of the island for views, followed by Watu Lepek Beach and Wind Cave before the drive back to the city by 5:30pm.

The boat for island hopping is included, as are entrance fees to each beach and the cave. You get snacks and 600ml of water during the day. The vehicle holds up to six people with air conditioning, and a live guide in English or Malay travels with the group. Lunch is on your own, so you'll have time to eat at a local spot near one of the beaches if you want to.

The route covers about 11 hours door-to-door, with most of the travel happening in the first two and a half hours to the coast and the final two and a half hours back. The middle of the day is split between the water (island hopping and beach time), and the hike at Batu Bengkuk, so the pace mixes activity with rest.
