The experience

The day starts with hotel pickup and a drive to Saba Bay, where you spend an hour on horseback across black sand with the sound of waves and views toward Nusa Penida Island. After the ride, you head to the ATV location for lunch at the on-site restaurant, then gear up for two hours on quad bikes. The track itself is the point: you navigate rice paddies, jungle sections, river crossings, tunnels and paths through working villages, not a circuit or a cleared trail. An instructor rides with you and guides the route.

The bikes are maintained and safety-approved. You get boots, a helmet and all protective gear. Insurance, tax and services are included in the price. The private air-conditioned vehicle means no other group shares your driver or your timing, and your guide speaks English. Lunch is buffet-style with a vegetarian option if you request it at booking. Showers, changing rooms and lockers are available at the ATV base so you can rinse off before the drive back.

Tandem rides let children as young as 5 ride with an adult on the same bike. These must be booked in pairs (2, 4, 6 riders and so on). The maximum weight for horse riding is 90 kilograms. Bring sunscreen, a camera and a change of clothes. The dress code is smart casual. The full day runs about eight hours from pickup to return.
