Vegetarian Cooking Class in Delhi: Learn 7 Dishes at Home
Cook dal, paneer curry, roti and a sweet dish in a Delhi home kitchen
A vegetarian cooking class in Delhi where you learn to make seven dishes—snacks, main courses, bread and a sweet—in a home kitchen with an Indian family. The class runs three hours in English, includes all ingredients and the meal you cook, and starts with pickup at Uttam Nagar West Metro station. You arrive 15 minutes early and wear casual clothes.
The Experience
You meet your host at Uttam Nagar West Metro station (gate 4) and head to their home in Delhi. The class opens with an explanation of Indian spices—what they are, how they work, why they matter—then moves straight into making snacks: two or three types, served with Indian masala tea and mint sauce. After you eat those, you move to the main course: yellow lentils (dal), potato with cauliflower (aloo gobi), paneer in cream and tomato sauce (shahi paneer), roti flatbread made on a griddle, cumin rice, and a sweet dish made with semolina and ghee. Everything you cook, you eat.
The three-hour session is hands-on: you are making these dishes, not watching a demonstration. Your host walks you through the techniques—how to knead and roll roti, how long dal takes to turn creamy, how the spices layer into the paneer sauce—and talks about daily life in Delhi while you cook and eat together. The class is in English and runs in their home kitchen, so the setup is intimate and the pace is set around what you are actually making, not a schedule.
You can book the cooking class alone, or add a vegetable market tour before or after the class to see where the ingredients come from. A vegan version is also available if you want to skip the paneer and dairy. Arrive 15 minutes early at the metro station, and wear casual clothes you don't mind getting flour or spice on.
What’s included
- All ingredients for the seven dishes.
- Indian masala tea or lassi.
- the full vegetarian meal you cook.
- and instruction in English from your host.

Is this one for you?Book this if you want to learn how Indian home cooking actually works—not restaurant techniques, but the way a Delhi family cooks for themselves. The class is in a home kitchen with a local family, which means the pace follows what you are making and the conversation is about daily life, not a tour script.
