The experience
The class runs from 11 a.m. at Jasmin Villa Homestay in Fort Cochin. Jasmine teaches the precise quantities and techniques that make each dish work: how tamarind, coconut and curry leaves build the flavor in Malabar Fish Curry, how coconut milk and green chilies balance the richness of a Kerala Fish Molee, how to stir-fry beans into a simple Thoran. You handle the ingredients and the cooking yourself, learning by doing rather than watching a demonstration.
The menu shifts between vegetarian sides and seafood specialties, so the dishes you cook depend on the day and what's available. Cooking equipment is provided. After you finish, you eat lunch together with the other participants (the food you've just made), along with coffee or tea. The whole session takes two and a half hours from start to finish.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (6 to 17 years); Child (2 to 5 years); Infant (under 2).
What eight dishes does Jasmine teach in the cooking class?
The menu includes Malabar Fish Curry, Kerala Fish Molee (a creamy coconut stew), and Beans Thoran, a stir-fried green bean side. The full roster rotates based on the day and ingredients available, but always covers both seafood and vegetarian preparations from Kerala tradition.
How much cooking experience do I need to join?
None. Jasmine teaches the fundamentals (how to use spices, the right quantities, the techniques), so beginners and people with some kitchen skills both work through the class together. You learn by doing, not by watching.
Do I eat what I cook, or is it just a lesson?
You eat it. After cooking, you sit down to lunch with the other participants and share the dishes you've made, plus coffee or tea.
Is this class private or shared with other people?
It's a group class, so you'll cook and eat with other participants. Jasmine teaches the whole group together.
