You'll be picked up from your Mumbai hotel early, driven to the airport, and on a morning flight to Delhi. A driver meets you at arrivals and takes you straight to Agra, about three hours by car. The Taj Mahal sits waiting, and you'll have time to walk through it with a local English-speaking guide who knows the story: how Emperor Shahjahan built it in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, how 22,000 artisans worked on the white marble, the lattice windows, all of it. It's the kind of detail that lands differently when you're standing in front of it.

After the Taj Mahal, you'll head to Agra Fort, the 16th-century UNESCO site that was the seat of Mughal power until the capital moved to Delhi in 1638. The fort has the Jahangiri Mahal, the Diwan-i-Khas (Hall of Private Audience), the Sheesh Mahal with its mirror work—each building has its own weight. Lunch happens somewhere in between, and you get light refreshments and water throughout the day. By late afternoon you're driven back to Delhi to catch an evening flight home. It's tight, but the logistics are handled: your hotel pickup, both flights in economy, the guide, the car, the entry fees. You don't arrange any of it.

The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays, so check your dates before booking. You'll need your passport on the day of the tour, and the airline will want your name, gender, passport number and expiry date at the time of booking. Confirmation comes within 48 hours. It's a lot of ground to cover in one day—the flight time alone is three hours each way—but if you're based in Mumbai and want to see both monuments without staying overnight in Agra, this is how you do it.
