You’ll zip through Roatan’s east end on an ATV, meet locals in historic communities, then kick back with a fresh pineapple drink right on the beach. It’s a mix of adventure and chill—perfect if you want more than just another day at port.
The day kicked off with a quick meet-up—our guide, Luis, greeted us right outside the port gates. He had that easy local smile and knew everyone by name within minutes. The drive out to Politilly Bight took about half an hour; windows down, you catch that salty breeze mixed with the smell of fried plantains from roadside stands. It’s quieter on this side of the island, just a few chickens darting across the road and kids waving as we passed.
Once we rolled into Politilly Bight, Luis gave us a rundown on the ATVs—nothing fancy, just straight talk about safety and how to handle the sandy patches. After signing the waiver (quick and painless), we set off. The ride itself was pure fun: bouncing along dirt tracks, palms whipping past, sometimes catching glimpses of turquoise water between trees. In Punta Gorda, we slowed down as locals played dominoes under a big mango tree—someone even waved us over for a quick chat about Garifuna history. I never realized how much music you hear here—drums and laughter drifting from open doors.
After all that dust and sun, rolling up to Pineapple Beach felt like hitting pause. They handed me a whole pineapple filled with something cold and sweet—honestly, it tasted even better with my feet in the sand. There’s no rush here; just time to watch fishing boats bobbing offshore or listen to waves slap against the shore while you cool off.
Yes! The guide gives clear instructions before you start, so even first-timers feel comfortable. Just follow their lead and take it slow if you need.
Infants can join but must sit on an adult’s lap during transport. For safety reasons, small children may not be able to ride their own ATV.
This tour isn’t recommended for pregnant travelers or those with spinal or heart issues. You’ll need moderate fitness since ATVs can be bumpy.
I’d suggest sunscreen, sunglasses, comfy clothes you don’t mind getting dusty, and maybe a towel for after your swim at the beach.
Your day includes private transportation in an air-conditioned vehicle, use of an ATV for each guest (with guidance), plus that fresh pineapple drink waiting at the beach. Service animals are welcome too!
