The Experience

You start with a car ride to the ATV meeting point, then spend an hour and a half riding through dirt roads, jungle terrain and a local town that ends at the beach. The route passes a shipwreck where you can stop for photos. This is not a paved loop—the terrain is rough and the pace is set by the group, so you're riding, not sightseeing from a vehicle.

After the ATVs, the guide takes you to the chocolate factory to watch how local chocolate is made and taste samples, then to the rum cake factory to learn the production process and try different rum flavors. Both stops are working facilities, not museums, so you see the actual craft. From there you head to the animal sanctuary where sloths, capuchin monkeys, macaws and yellow-headed parrots live in their natural habitat. The sanctuary is built for families and animal lovers who want to see the animals up close.

The tour wraps with a stop at the Rusty Fish local craft market for souvenir shopping and a photo at the famous Roatan colorful sign. Your guide drops you at the cruise port. The whole day runs about 4 hours from pickup to port drop-off, with an English-speaking guide and driver with you the entire time. All fees, taxes and air-conditioned transport are included.
