Mykonos beer tasting with sea breeze stories and local brews

You’ll meet real Mykonians over five unique beers brewed right on the island, swap stories with locals in a seaside taverna at Tourlos New Port, and maybe laugh at your own Greek pronunciation. Expect sea air, friendly faces, and flavors you won’t find anywhere else—plus a chance to grab rare bottles before heading back.

Mikònu Beer Tasting at New Port

  • Hear stories behind the brews
  • Enjoy views of New Port
  • Shop limited-edition Mikònu beers

The Experience

We’d barely sat down at the Mikònu Beer Taverna when Yannis, one of the brewers, grinned and slid over our first glass. “This one’s got thyme from my aunt’s garden,” he said. I sniffed it (maybe too obviously), and he laughed, waving his hand like, go ahead, judge it. The place is inside Mathios Taverna now—right at Tourlos, near the cruise port—so you can actually see ferries drifting in while you sip. There was this salty wind coming off the water that made everything taste sharper. I didn’t expect that.

We tried five different beers—each poured with a story. Yannis told us about how they started brewing here on Mykonos, using local stuff like honey or herbs (he even pointed out which ones grow wild behind the taverna). I tried to say “Mikònu” properly; Li laughed at my accent, so did Yannis. Honestly, it felt more like hanging out with friends than a tour. The place buzzes with locals grabbing lunch or just stopping for a quick pint before work. At some point, someone’s dog wandered under our table and flopped down on my foot—nobody minded.

The sun hit the Aegean just right through the window while we tasted their limited-edition bottle—kind of malty, kind of floral? Hard to describe but good enough that I bought two to take home. If you’re into beer (or just want to hear weird Mykonian myths over drinks), this is your spot. It’s easy to get to from anywhere in Mykonos town; we came by bus and walked five minutes from the stop. I still think about that thyme aroma every time I open a bottle now.
