The Experience

I’ll be honest—when our driver picked us up in Mykonos Town, I was still a little groggy from the night before. But twenty minutes later, we’re tumbling out onto Super Paradise Beach, sun already bouncing off the water and music thumping somewhere close. Our local escort just grinned and handed us bottled water (which I desperately needed). The air smelled like sunscreen and salt, with this faint perfume of something sweet—maybe someone’s cocktail? It’s loud but in that good way, where you feel like you’re about to be part of something wild.

We started at Super Paradise Beach Club—honestly, I’d heard stories but didn’t expect to spot a famous DJ setting up right next to us. Everyone seemed to know each other or wanted to; people danced barefoot in the sand or lounged on those white beds like they owned the place. At JackieO’, things got even more surreal—a drag show by the pool, rainbow flags waving everywhere, and someone handed me a drink so pink I had to laugh. Li tried to teach me how to say “cheers” in Greek (I butchered it), but nobody cared. The staff were all smiles—one bartender even showed us how he makes their signature cocktail (I forgot half the steps).

Paradise Beach was next—only a short drive but somehow felt like another world. Tropicana kicked off around 4:30 PM with a DJ who looked about twelve but played like a pro. It was crowded but not pushy; people just moved aside if you wanted to dance or wade into the sea for a minute. There’s this moment where I lay back on a lounger, cold glass pressed against my cheek, and watched everyone—locals mixing with travelers, friends shouting over music, waves crashing just out of sight. I still think about that view sometimes.
