The experience
The cruise leaves Adamas harbor and sails along Milos's northern coast, passing the traditional fishing villages of Skinopi and Klima (where the locals' houses, called "Sirmata," are painted in bright colors), then Areti and Fourkovouni. You'll see Arkoudes, a jumble of lava rocks shaped by the island's volcanic past, before the boat opens its sails toward Cape Vani. The first swimming stop is the natural bay of Kalogries, where the water is clear enough to dive straight from the catamaran and snorkeling gear is provided. A fresh fruit salad is served while you're in the water.
Next is the cave of Sikia, where you can see the distinctive hole in its roof and the cave entrance from the boat. Then comes Kleftiko, the old pirate bay that is only reachable by water. The crew will guide you to explore it and swim again. After you climb back aboard, a hot lunch prepared by the crew is served on the catamaran. The boat returns to Adamas at 3:15pm. Weather and sea conditions may alter the route or stops at the captain's discretion.
The catamaran is air-conditioned and carries a live guide who speaks English, Italian or Greek depending on the group. A minimum of six passengers is required for the cruise to depart. Children from age 7 can join, though the cruise is not recommended for pregnant travelers or those with spinal injuries or serious heart conditions. Bring a passport, ID card or driver's license for port authority checks, plus sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat and a towel.
