Summary

Antiparos boat cruise with local food, caves and swimming

You’ll drift across impossibly clear waters from Antiparos to Despotiko, pausing for swims in hidden coves and sharing Greek lunch with new friends on deck. Taste ouzo after your first dip, feel salt drying on your skin, and let time slow down between each stop — it’s less like a tour, more like borrowing someone’s perfect summer day.

experience

What’s the experience like?

I didn’t know what to expect when we stepped onto that big wooden boat in Antiparos — I just knew I needed a break from the dust and noise of the main town. There was this salty smell in the air, and everyone shuffled around finding a spot on the sunbeds (I grabbed one near the edge, just to watch the water). Our guide, Yannis, handed out coffee as we drifted toward Panteronissia. The water there looked fake — so clear you could see every ripple on the sand below. It was quiet except for some laughter from a group trying to say “kalimera” right. I still think about how cold that first swim felt against my skin.

Afterwards, someone passed around plates of marinated fish and tomatoes — apparently straight from their garden — with ouzo that tasted way stronger than I expected. Yannis told us stories about old fishermen who used to hide in these coves during storms. We sailed along Antiparos’ southern coast, passing white rocks and stopping at Mastichari Cave. Some people jumped off the cliffs (not me), but even just floating near those caves felt surreal. The sun bounced off everything; it made me squint half the time.

Lunch at Despotiko was grilled fish and chicken souvlaki with Greek salad and potato salad — nothing fancy, just honest food eaten at a long table while our hair dried in the breeze. Cold beer never tasted so good. On the way back, we stopped for one last swim at Faneromeni Bay. Someone cut up fruit and passed it around while we floated lazily in the water. There’s something about being out there all day — not really thinking about anything except how blue everything is. Honestly, I didn’t want to leave when they called us back on board.
