The experience

The day starts with a drive from your hotel to Cape Coast, roughly two and a half hours through the landscape. At Kakum National Park, the canopy walkway is the centerpiece: a suspended bridge 30 meters above the forest floor that lets you move through the treetop level instead of walking below it. As you cross, the guide points out medicinal trees, African grey parrots, hornbills and the butterflies the park is known for. The walkway itself is the vantage most visitors come for, and the height changes what you see.

After the park, you'll drive to Elmina for lunch and a break before the afternoon visit to St George's Castle.
