The experience

The tour starts with pickup from your hotel and heads to the Nazi Party Rally Grounds in the southeast corner of Nuremberg. The Documentation Center sits within what was once a 4-square-mile complex designed as a backdrop for Nazi party rallies: structures still standing today that convey the scale of the regime's ambitions. You walk through the grounds with your guide, who contextualizes what you're seeing and explains how this space functioned in the party's propaganda and power demonstrations.

Next is the Nuremberg Palace of Justice, where Courtroom 600 became the site of the International Military Tribunal. From November 1945 to October 1946, the major war criminals faced trial there. Twelve subsequent trials followed until 1949, all held in the same courtroom before U.S. military tribunals. Your guide walks you through the building and its history, grounding the legal proceedings in the physical space where they took place.

The tour ends at a brewery in central Nuremberg, where you taste three different beers. The whole experience runs four hours and operates seven days a week regardless of weather. A live guide in your chosen language (English, Spanish, Portuguese or Italian) leads the group throughout. Note that the Palace of Justice closes on Tuesdays, so plan accordingly if that day matters to your schedule.

Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese.

What exactly is the Nazi Party Rally Grounds, and what will I see there?

The Documentation Center Nazi Party Rally Grounds occupies a 4-square-mile area in southeast Nuremberg that once served as the backdrop for Nazi party rallies. The structures still standing there (some of the greatest Nazi monuments remaining in Germany) demonstrate the scale and ambition of the regime's propaganda efforts. Your guide will explain how the space functioned and what the architecture was meant to convey.

Can I actually go inside Courtroom 600 at the Palace of Justice?

Yes. Courtroom 600 at the Nuremberg Palace of Justice is where the International Military Tribunal tried major war criminals from 1945 to 1946, and where twelve subsequent trials were held. Your guide will take you through the building and explain the trials that took place there. Keep in mind the Palace of Justice is closed on Tuesdays.

What beers will I taste, and how many?

You'll taste three different beers at a brewery in the center of Nuremberg. The brewery is a local spot, and the tasting is part of the tour's final stop after you've visited both historical sites.

Is hotel pickup really included, or do I need to arrange my own transport?

Hotel pickup is included. Your guide will collect you from the hotel you choose at the start of the day, so you don't need to arrange separate transportation to the first stop.
