The experience
Your guide picks you up from your hotel and starts at the Tbilisi Funicular, which carries you up Mtatsminda Mountain for a walk through the park and panoramic views back over the city. From there you drive along Rustaveli Avenue to the Georgian National Museum, where a guided tour covers Paleolithic through Middle Ages collections of archaeology and ethnography. You walk to Rose Revolution Square, then drive to the Open Air Museum of Ethnography to explore traditional Georgian structures and crafts with a local guide.
Turtle Lake comes next: a spot for views and a break with tea, coffee or mineral water at one of the cafes. Then you ride the aerial cable car up to Narikhala Fortress, which sits on a hill overlooking the city and dates to the 4th century. You explore the fortress, walk down into Legvtakhevi and the Sulphur Bathhouses area, and reach Meidan Square in Old Town, where you can browse for Georgian wine and souvenirs before heading back to your hotel for free time.
At 7pm your guide returns to take you to a traditional restaurant for dinner. Georgian cuisine blends Middle Eastern and European influences. The meal includes appetizers like tomato and cucumber salad and sulguni cheese, a mushroom cream soup, veal chakapuli stew, Imeretian khachapuri (cheese-filled bread), and dessert. The dinner is accompanied by traditional Georgian dances and music. After the meal you're dropped at your hotel.
