Provence Cooking Class with Michelin-Star Chef in Gordes
Cook a three-course Provençal meal under a Michelin-trained chef who has lived in Provence for over 30 years.
A private cooking class in Gordes with chef Gerald, who trained under Michelin stars and has made Provence home for three decades. You'll prepare a starter, main course and dessert from scratch in his professional studio, then eat what you've made with local French wine. On Sundays, add a market tour where Gerald teaches you to select seasonal ingredients like a local, then build your menu around what you find.
The experience
Gerald's studio is attached to his home in Gordes, a professional kitchen where you work hands-on for four hours. You'll prepare squash blossoms stuffed with ratatouille, fresh herbs, cheese and tomato coulis; then either French lamb stew or roasted fresh cod with seasonal vegetables and potatoes; then nougat glacé with fruit confit and lavender honey. Gerald guides you through each step with the precision of his Michelin training and the ease of someone who's cooked this food every day for over 30 years. After you finish cooking, you sit down to eat the meal you've made, paired with carefully selected local French wines.
On Sundays, you can add a market tour before the cooking class. Gerald drives groups of up to four to the Marché Paysan de Coustellet, where he teaches you how to choose the best produce like a local: what ripeness means, which vendors to trust, how to spot quality. You select ingredients together, then return to the studio and build a custom three-course menu based on what you found. Larger groups arrange their own transport to the market and meet Gerald there. Either way, you leave with recipes written down and the muscle memory of how to make these dishes at home.
