Five of Burgundy's greatest Pinot Noirs, tasted in the village where they're made

A private tasting of five grand cru Pinot Noirs from Burgundy's Côte de Nuits in Vosne-Romanée, led by a wine specialist in a dedicated tasting room. You taste wines from estates normally closed to the public (Richebourg or Romanée Saint Vivant, Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru Les Saint Georges, Clos Saint Denis or Clos de la Roche, Bonnes Mares, and Chambertin or Chambertin Clos de Bèze) with appellations subject to seasonal change. The tasting lasts around two hours and is available with or without brunch. A guide speaks English or French, and you must be at least 18.

The experience

You arrive in Vosne-Romanée, the heart of Burgundy's most storied wine country, where names like Romanée-Conti and La Tache define what great Pinot Noir can be. The Vosne Tasting Club sits in the village itself, giving you access to wines from estates that don't open their doors to casual visitors. This is the rare setup: instead of a cellar tour or a winery visit, you're in a private tasting room where the wines come to you, held at the exact temperature they need, and a wine specialist walks you through each one.

The five wines are the core of the experience. You'll taste a Richebourg or Romanée Saint Vivant (both from the appellation's most exclusive vineyards) followed by a Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru Les Saint Georges, then a Clos Saint Denis or Clos de la Roche from Morey-Saint-Denis, a Bonnes Mares from Chambolle-Musigny, and finally a Chambertin or Chambertin Clos de Bèze from Gevrey-Chambertin. Each wine comes with description and context from someone trained to talk about what you're tasting, not just pour it. The lineup shifts with the season, so what's available changes: part of what makes these tastings rare and confidential rather than fixed.

The two-hour window gives you time to sit with each wine without rushing. You choose at checkout whether to add brunch to the tasting or keep it to wine alone. A guide fluent in English or French leads the session, so the explanation lands in your language. You need to be 18 to participate.

Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English and French.

What's the difference between the wines I'll taste, Richebourg, Clos Saint Denis, Bonnes Mares and Chambertin?

Each comes from a different village and vineyard within Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, and each has its own appellation rules and character. Richebourg and Romanée Saint Vivant are from Vosne-Romanée, known for elegance; Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru comes from the village of Nuits-Saint-Georges; Clos Saint Denis and Clos de la Roche are from Morey-Saint-Denis; Bonnes Mares spans Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis; and Chambertin comes from Gevrey-Chambertin, often considered the most powerful. Your specialist will explain what sets each one apart as you taste.

Why can't I visit the estates these wines come from on my own?

Most of the grand cru producers in Burgundy don't welcome walk-in visitors or casual tastings. The Vosne Tasting Club sources directly from these closed estates, so you get to taste their wines in a dedicated room without needing an appointment at the winery itself.

How much wine will I actually drink in two hours?

You're tasting five wines, which means a pour of each one: enough to experience the wine properly without leaving you overwhelmed. The pace is set by the specialist, so you have time to discuss each wine before moving to the next.

Can I add food to the tasting, or is it wine only?

You can choose to add brunch when you book, pairing it with the wines, or keep the tasting to wine alone. Either way, the wines are served in ideal temperature conditions in the private tasting room.

Do I need to know about wine to join this tasting?

No. The wine specialist is there to guide you through each wine and explain what you're tasting. These tastings are designed for Burgundy enthusiasts, but the specialist will meet you where you are and help you understand what makes each wine distinctive.
