Omaha Beach is the first stop, a 30-minute drive from Bayeux. Five minutes away, the Normandy American Cemetery holds more than 9,000 American servicemen and women; the guide explains the cemetery's role in the D-Day story before you have time to walk the grounds on your own.

Pointe du Hoc comes next, a 20-minute drive inland. This is where the 2nd US Ranger Battalion scaled the cliffs under Lieutenant Colonel James E. Rudder to destroy a German gun battery. The bomb craters, bunkers and dugouts are still visible. After another 30 minutes, you reach Sainte-Mère-Église, the first town liberated by American paratroopers on D-Day—your guide covers the airborne operation and the paratrooper who got caught on the church tower. The 60-minute break here is yours to find lunch and rest.

The afternoon follows Easy Company's movements. You'll see Marmion's farm, where the first newsreel footage of the invasion was shot and where Easy Company stayed in those first days. Brecourt Manor is the site of the battle shown in the second episode of the TV series—four German guns firing at Utah Beach, taken out by the company. The tour ends in Carentan, the strategic crossroad Easy Company captured, then returns to Bayeux after a 30-minute drive.
