The experience

The tour leaves Bayeux at 8:30am in an air-conditioned minivan, picking up from your hotel in town. Your guide speaks English and French and drives the group of up to eight through the Norman countryside to Juno Beach, where Canadian forces landed on June 6, 1944. You walk the beach itself and spend time inside the Juno Beach Center, a museum built on the landing site with exhibits on the Canadian invasion and the weeks that followed.

From there the route moves inland to the Bény-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery, where 2,043 Canadian soldiers are buried in a formal garden setting. The guide explains who fought where and why the sites matter. The minivan then stops at Ardenne Abbey, Authie, Carpiquet and Hill 67: each a place where Canadian units faced German resistance or where the fighting shaped the summer campaign. The guide contextualizes each stop. You stand where the decisions were made and the casualties happened.

The tour returns to Bayeux around 6pm. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included if you're staying in town. There is no pickup from Paris or from the cruise ports. Fuel surcharge is included in the price. Bring lunch or plan to eat in a village along the route, as meals are not part of the tour.
