The experience

The route starts with the major monuments: Belle Époque palaces and grand hotels that line Nice's hillsides, then climbs easily on the e-bike to Cimiez Hill, the highest point of the city. From there the views shift. You're looking down at Nice's rooftops instead of up at its facades. The Cimiez Monastery sits at the top with its rose gardens, 15th-century frescoes and mix of Romanesque, Baroque and Gothic architecture. Nearby are the Roman ruins and thermal baths, set among olive trees in a quiet park where locals picnic.

The tour crosses through the hinterland on off-the-beaten-track paths before descending to a waterfall that overlooks the whole city: a spot most visitors never find. From there you ride down through the popular districts: past the Temple of Love, through Gare du Sud, and stop at the Russian Cathedral, the largest Orthodox church outside Russia.
