The experience
You walk the Giza plateau on foot, moving between the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre, the Pyramid of Menkaure, and the Great Sphinx. The guide meets you at the pyramids gate and leads you to the best vantage points for photographs and close views of each structure. Early morning and late afternoon departures are timed so the light works for photography and the heat is manageable.
An Egyptologist guide narrates the real history as you walk: the Great Pyramid of Khufu, built around 2580–2560 BC as a tomb for Pharaoh Khufu, is the largest and most famous. The Pyramid of Khafre sits on higher ground and appears taller, though it is slightly shorter. The Pyramid of Menkaure stands apart, built with limestone and red granite rather than limestone alone, a choice that shaped how it has survived. The Sphinx, a limestone statue with a lion's body and a pharaoh's head, offers a dramatic backdrop and a moment to stand in front of one of the world's oldest monuments.
Bottled water and the guide are included. You walk for the full 3.5 hours. If you need transport from your hotel to the pyramids gate, you can arrange it when you book.
