  • Explore Great Pyramids of Giza
  • See the iconic Sphinx
  • Tour Grand Egyptian Museum
  • Discover King Tutankhamun artifacts
  • Enjoy views of the pyramids

The experience

The Giza Pyramids are the opening act. Your guide meets you at your hotel and drives you to the site in an air-conditioned vehicle. You walk among the monuments, stand in front of the Great Pyramid and the Sphinx, and photograph them from angles most visitors miss. The guide explains the construction, the pharaohs who built them, and the theories archaeologists still debate. This part of the day runs at your pace. You're not herded through a group. The commentary is built around what you want to know.

After the pyramids, you move to the Grand Egyptian Museum, the newest major museum in Cairo and the largest archaeological museum in the world. The building itself is modern and climate-controlled, with wide galleries and sightlines designed so the artifacts breathe. King Tutankhamun's collection, thousands of pieces, is displayed together here for the first time, no longer scattered across Cairo's older museums. You see the golden mask, the chariots, the furniture, the weapons, the everyday objects that traveled with him into the tomb. The museum also holds views of the Giza Pyramids from its upper floors, so the two halves of the day connect visually.

Lunch is a local dish called Koshari, a layered mix of rice, lentils, pasta and tomato sauce with a spiced chickpea topping. It arrives during a break in the itinerary, included in the price. The tour runs nine hours total, which means you leave your hotel in the early morning and return in the late afternoon. Bottled water is provided throughout.

Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English, Spanish, French, German and Italian.

Can children come?

Yes. Ticket types: Child (6 to 11 years); Infant (1 to 5 years).

What is the Great Pyramid and the Sphinx actually like when you stand in front of them?

The Great Pyramid is the oldest of the three main pyramids at Giza and the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still standing. The Sphinx is a limestone statue with a human head and a lion's body, carved from a single ridge of rock. Both sit on the Giza Plateau, and your guide walks you through the site so you see them from multiple angles and understand how they were built and why.

What does the Grand Egyptian Museum have that the older Cairo museums don't?

The Grand Egyptian Museum houses King Tutankhamun's complete collection displayed together in one place for the first time. The older museums held pieces of it scattered across different rooms and buildings. This museum also has cutting-edge climate control, modern gallery design, and views of the Giza Pyramids from the upper levels, so the artifacts are shown in a contemporary setting built specifically for them.

How much of the day is spent at each location?

The morning is spent at the Giza Pyramids walking the site with your guide. The afternoon is spent inside the Grand Egyptian Museum exploring the galleries. The nine-hour total includes pickup from your hotel, the drive between sites, lunch, and the return drive.
