The experience

The day starts at the Egyptian Museum, where your guide walks you through galleries of ancient artifacts and into King Tutankhamun's room and the Royal Mummy exhibit. The museum portion runs about two hours, giving you time to absorb the scale of what's on display without rushing through. From there, the air-conditioned vehicle takes you to Giza, where you'll see the Great Pyramids, the Queen's Pyramid and the Sphinx. A camel ride at the scenic overlook is built into this section, and your photographer is stationed to capture those moments: the kind of shots that actually look good when you post them later.

The Pyramids portion takes up roughly four hours of the day. Your guide shares the history and context for what you're standing in front of, which changes how the scale of the stones registers. After the plateau, you move to Khan El Khalily Bazaar, one of Egypt's oldest markets, for about an hour to walk the stalls and absorb the rhythm of the place. The full day runs seven to eight hours total. You can book this with or without the photographer depending on your preference, and the guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or two additional languages. You choose at checkout.
