The experience

Your guide picks you up from your hotel at 9 am and takes you first to the Egyptian Museum, where the collection spans 5,000 years of Egyptian art: the largest and most precious assemblage of its kind in the world. From there the route moves to Old Cairo, where you visit three religious buildings in close succession: the Hanging Church, Abu Sirga Church, and Ben Ezra Synagogue, each one marking a different faith and period in the city's history.

The Citadel of Salah El Din comes next, built on the Moqattam hills in 1183 AD as a defense against Crusader armies. Inside, the Mohamed Ali Mosque (an architectural masterpiece still used as a place of worship) opens to visitors of all faiths. The tour ends at Khan el-Khalili, the oldest and most famous bazaar in the Middle East, where you have time to walk the stalls before your guide returns you to your hotel. The private vehicle and Egyptologist guide stay with you throughout, and bottled water is provided.
