Meet dugongs and giant turtles on the seagrass beds of Marsa Mubarak Bay.

Diving at Marsa Mubarak is a guided scuba dive in Egypt's Red Sea where certified divers meet dugongs and giant turtles on shallow seagrass beds at 10–15 meters depth. The dive includes an air-conditioned vehicle pickup, a safety briefing at Scuba World diving center, and a second dive site option for an extra fee. A live guide speaks English, French, German or Arabic. Minimum age is 12. The dive is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, pregnancy or poor cardiovascular health.

The Experience

The dive starts at Scuba World diving center, where you meet your instructor, gear up and receive a safety briefing before heading to the water. Marsa Mubarak Bay sits in the Red Sea off Marsa Alam and is known for shallow coral blocks and the chance to see dugongs and giant turtles grazing on seagrass: animals most divers never encounter. You descend to 10–15 meters and explore the reef while your guide points out the rare species that make this site different from the deeper walls and drop-offs elsewhere in the region.

The dive runs roughly two hours from start to finish. After you surface and catch your breath, you can relax on the jetty with refreshments, then return to the center for a hot shower and snacks. A second dive at a nearby site is available for an extra fee of 45 euros if you want to extend the day and explore another section of the bay.

Pickup is included in an air-conditioned vehicle. Your guide is a live instructor who speaks English, French, German or Arabic. Certified divers of all experience levels are welcome, though the dive is not suitable for anyone with spinal injuries or cardiovascular concerns, and is not recommended during pregnancy.
