Snorkel Marsa Mubarak with Dugongs & Turtles from Marsa Alam
Spend a full day in the water with dugongs and giant turtles, then sail back to your hotel fed and dry.
This eight-hour snorkeling activity departs from Marsa Alam with hotel pickup and takes you by speedboat to Marsa Mubarak, where you search for and swim with dugongs for an hour, then snorkel with the Red Sea's largest turtles. A guide briefs you on marine life and safety before you enter the water, lunch is served onboard, and an air-conditioned vehicle returns you to your hotel at the end of the day.
The Experience
Eight hours from pickup to return means you leave your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle and reach Port Ghalib Marine, just south of Marsa Alam Airport, in time for a 25-minute speedboat ride to Marsa Mubarak. Your guide covers marine life and safety protocols before the first snorkel—this is the setup that lets the rest of the day work without confusion or wasted time in the water.
The dugong search happens by speedboat first, then you get an hour in the water alongside them. These are gentle, slow-moving creatures, and the structure—searching together, then snorkeling—means you are not chasing them randomly. After that comes lunch onboard, a break that splits the day and refuels you for the second half. The second snorkel targets the largest turtles in the Red Sea, and clownfish (the Nemo fish) are part of what you encounter in the same waters.
Snorkeling equipment is provided, along with bottled water throughout the day. Your guide stays in the water with you, not narrating from a boat. The return journey gives you time to dry off and settle before the vehicle takes you back to your hotel.
